Scientists at Beijing Institute of Technology developed the world’s lightest insect brain controller weighing just 74 milligrams.

The device straps to a bee’s back with three needles piercing its brain, using electronic pulses to control flight direction with 90% success rate.

The team believes mind-controlled bees could serve as military scouts and disaster relief operators due to their superior mobility and camouflage capabilities.

While promising for search operations, the technology raises concerns about potential surveillance applications where insects become biological spy drones.
